A night dedicated to the awesome Jon Lord who influenced countless musicians and fans of all ages. Jonathan Douglas "Jon" Lord (9 June 1941 – 16 July 2012) was an English composer, pianist, and hammond organ player.
A fusion of musicians will be playing a mix of the greatest songs that Jon Lord performed throughout his brilliant career.
On 16 July 2012 the music world lost one of its greatest. Jon Lord has succumbed to pancreatic cancer at the age of 71.
Co-founder of Deep Purple, Jon will be forever remembered for his amazing musical achievements.
His love affair with music started very early. Although having classical piano training, Jon was quickly seduced by the music of Jerry Lee Lewis and Jimmy Smith. Instead of taking up an acting carrier after receiving drama school scholarship, Jon opted for gigging in pubs, including a short-lived outfit with Ronnie Wood, future Rolling Stones star.
True to that tradition, Live4guitar has organised a remembrance gig, where a host of musicians will rotate on stage for the evening performing many great songs that Jon graced us with.
The event will take place at The Fiddlers Elbow in Camden on 30th August.
